Oleksandr Ivashkov’s participation in the General Assembly meeting was an important milestone for the development of the organization, emphasizing its integration into the large network of the humanitarian sector in Ukraine. The Humanitarian NGO Platform currently acts as a key bridge between local initiatives and international donors, ensuring transparent resource allocation and effective coordination of efforts. For the NGO “Your Way”, this is not just a representative presence, but a real opportunity to participate in the formation of assistance strategies implemented at the national level.
The meeting discussed critical challenges faced by national civil society organizations in the context of a protracted humanitarian crisis. The focus of the meeting was on building the capacity of local NGOs, since they are the ones who have the most relevant information about the needs of communities. Participation in such events allows synchronizing actions with the other 58 national members of the platform, avoiding duplication of functions and focusing resources on the least protected segments of the population.
In addition to internal coordination, the Platform of Humanitarian NGOs in Ukraine plays a strategic role in advocating for the interests of civil society before the government and international partners. The common voice of the 139 members of the structure carries significant weight when planning recovery and stabilization programs. Thanks to the involvement in the work of the General Assembly, Oleksandr Ivashkov and the team of the NGO “Your Way” gain access to best practices, international standards for providing assistance and new project financing instruments.
The meeting outlined priorities for the next operational period, in particular, strengthening the role of local organizations in decision-making processes. Such strengthening of the positions of national players within the platform contributes to the sustainability of the entire humanitarian system of the country. This gives confidence that aid will reach recipients in the most remote regions faster and with better quality, relying on the professionalism and expertise of each member of the community.
